Anyone remember SOPA? If you don't, here's a refresher. The Stop Online Piracy Act was essentially a nice SOUNDING bill but in reality would give companies incontestable rights over their intellectual property. They would have the legal right to shut down any and all websites that they felt were infringing on their IP and charge any and all individuals who put up their IP as felons. Yes, had SOPA passed, we could all be in jail for being felons for posting fanart or a Let's Play video and whatnot had this bill passed. Thankfully, it did not pass. SOPA wasn't stopped there. Many clones of the bill sprung up immediately following SOPA's fall.
